Stepping off with the left foot, he descended down the spiral staircase. His head drifted as went lower into the cellar, “Owen said most spiral staircases are not spiral staircases as they do not change their circumference and therefore more cylindrical.”The light from the lamp above was diminishing, and the outline of his shadow a was fading into the darkness in front of him.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his iPhone 5s, and with his thumb flicked on the torch app. The stairs in front of him flooded with the light from his smartphone.
“What has Jo-Nathan said to him ah yes. The way is long and dark when you reach the bottom. It opens up to a corridor, you can go either left or right. I recommend right but when you get to choose you will know in your heart which way to go.”
He smiled to himself Jo-Nathan was always drama guy, but this was supposed to be his chance to join the Order. His torch light app was now lighting up the arch way to the corridor Jo-Nathan had mentioned. He got to the bottom step, and breathed out slowly, trying to feel his next move. As he closed his eyes he turned off the light and thought about what he was going to do.
“Right was recommended, but was this a trick. Hmm. I am not sure. How does it feel. No stop the Bruce Lee accent!! Wait that’s it.”
He smiled to himself and lifted his left foot and stepped through the archway planting his left foot towards the left side of the corridor. His right foot followed this arch . When he opened his eyes he was facing the corridor and the stairs was on his left-hand side.
Breathing more quickly now he trusted his instincts and set of in to the dark at some pace.
About 450yards down the pitch black corridor he felt a draft of air on his left cheek and he stopped suddenly. He lifted his arms up and waved them around him, front, back, left side, right side and above his head.
He could feel a gap and bit of wall by the side of him on the left and right. He was drawn to the left again and he marched through the next opening . A dim light flicked ahead of him so he headed towards it.
As he got closer the light source he could see was a candle in an old brass candlestick holder sat on small round oak table.
Reaching the table he found there was some papers and a quill with some ink.
