As 2020 fast approaches time to reflect on the year that was 2019!!

1. What did you do in 2019 that you’d never done before?

I was installed into the Chair of Zerubbabel in February, which was attended by some of my good masonic friends and Brothers.

Went on a Cruise Ship holiday to Norway.

Nearly drowned in the North Sea

Exalted an old friend into the Royal Arch.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

 The Plans were :

  1. Read 12 books  –
    1. I have certainly read a lot more this year,
    2. I completed the 2 most recent books from the 7,6,5,4,3  range. Matthew Reilly
    3. I read the scarlet Gospel by Clive Barker it has been a while since I have read his work
    4. I have read and completed 3 masonic books and have on the go about 9
  1. Sort our St Edmund’s  Website –
    1. Done this,  needs more content but it is up.  But once we know the group’s status we can then look up at getting a donation button.
  2. The draft version of the book by December 2019
    1. Ah well, have not got I draft version ready,  I have lots of notes and this is more difficult than writing a paper but, I have got to 2 drafts (rough) chapters in progress and I hope to be further into them before 2020

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Well the fish in the in the Big tank spawned more which was odd as we thought they were all dying.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No one that comes to mind, there have been Brothers that have passed away but I have not known them well.

5. What countries did you visit?

Norway – Cruise Liner Holiday

Scotland – Edinburgh & Helensburgh – in the Caravan

Wales – The usual trip to Llangollen for the walk around Crow Castle  – in the Motorhome

6. What would you like to have in 2020 that you lacked in 2019?

A draft book ready to fine-tune

More use of my bed

7. What dates from 2019 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

7th Feb – Installed into the Chair of Z

1st Sept – the Worst trip back from holidays  in the Van

15th Oct – Dad’s 50th Celebrations in Freemasonry

19th Nov – Rob being installed into the Chair of S 0 and giving him the Address to the Master

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Sorting out two websites

Exalting Colin into Chapter

Spending some quality time with the family.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not spending enough time with kids.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I was ill with a Flu type bug that had me on my back for almost 5 days, something that I have no previous memory of being ill for that long. Nor had my parents

I strained my right knee joint at Karate, but it seems to be ok now,  doesn’t help Indy likes to smack it every now and again when trying to remove her muzzle.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Not sure, my new headphones as cool and so are the Binoculars I also treated myself to.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

Dad, for his grounding in life and general outlook

Helen, for getting a new job and should do a great job.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

The groups that think it is fine to be rude about people for their political views.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Car, family, and books

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

  1. Holidays

16. What song will always remind you of 2019?

That is difficult it is either

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) happier or sadder? Happier

b) thinner or fatter? Thinner – Healthier eating, exercise.  Means my body is not as fat as it once was.

c) richer or poorer? About the same – there was a surprise bonus as the company was sold, but still, no pay rise which means workwise I am less a happier than it could be

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Research on the book and time with the Family.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Being easily distracted by things

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

With the family and my Parents in law

21. What was your favourite month of 2019?

August – just had some great times with the family

Helen.

Zero

Difficult really as nothing really  stands out, but Silicon Valley’s last series was very good.

Also enjoyed the Jack Ryan series

25. Do you hate or dislike anyone now that you didn’t hate or dislike this time last year?

No not really, or not that I can think off.

26. What was the best book you read?

The Three Secret Cities by Mathew Reilly

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

The best discovery was Monstercat  about 2/3 years ago and it is the gift that just keeps giving:

A set  of Keys

A review with my Boss.

The love of family and friends

It was a General Election year, so not know who to vote for was kind of irritating

Not met anyone new this year that warrants the term “best” sorry.

Talking to people about your problems is a better way to find a solution

The annual meme is back so as 2017 draws to close it is time to review the year as it is, as it was. Reflecting on life that has been led by me in my Pete-centric universe.

1. What did you do in 2017 that you’d never done before?

  1. Gave a lecture a Hope Lodge No.54 of one of my LOLSpapers
  2. Advanced my Dad into the honourable degree of Mark Master Mason.

 

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?  Did you have any Challenges in 2017 and were you successful, and will you have more Challenges for 2018?   

I set none, in fact, I failed the usual 100days challenge.  Been late for all the LOLSpapers this year (but at least I took part)

  1. Was pleased with my Masonic work in Mark.
  2. On the whole, this was not a very productive year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Colin and Kathleen had a daughter called Grace/Nora!!

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Not this year some brethren did that I did not know and I think a family member in.

 

5. What countries did you visit?

Well, it was certainly the year of the Caravan.

  • South Lakes
  • Mow Cope (Cheshire/Staffordshire)
  • Capesthorne Hall (Cheshire)
  • Haggerstone Castle (Haven – Northumberland)
  • Ynys Mon (Wales)
  • Llangollen (Wales)
  • Then in November out of Caravan season we went to North Lakes.

 

6. What would you like to have in 2018 that you lacked in 2017?

Well more sleep but to be fair to Callum he has been a lot better.
Better organised
Less grumpy (but that may be sleep related)

 

7. What dates from 2017 will remain etched in your memory, and why?

10th January – the Advancement

 

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting to three years in the same job and ignoring the itch to find something new.

 

9. What was your biggest failure?

Letting life got in the way of being productive.

 

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nope, thankfully I have been very lucky this year.

 

11. What was the best thing you bought?

  • Office Subscription to 365.
  • Bike

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

Henry, he has done really well this first year, he is an enthusiastic individual and a little over the top but on the whole a good Kid.

More correspondence with friends and family. Just stayed in touch more.

Christmas this year was at home with family and My parents and then the in-laws joined later in the afternoon.

August – lots of adventures in the Caravan.

I have enjoyed:

Dan Brown – Origin. As it appears I have only really been reading Ritual books

I went to a Lodge meeting to hide from the fact I turned 40.

Feeling less rushed.

Outdoorsy- and am now sporting a beard.

No stirring, more head scratching and disappointed at what Parliament, EU and the Government do.

No new one person, I have met a lot a great people too numerous to name.

Hard work and perseverance is always helpful.

As 2016 draws to close it is time to review the year as it is, as it was. Reflecting on life that has been led by me in my Pete-centric universe.

1. What did you do in 2016 that you’d never done before?
Went to my brother’s wedding

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Did you have any Challenges in 2016 and were you successful, and will you have more Challenges for 2017? “Artisan 2016”. Was 3 things, 100days – PASSED, write 4 Non LOLSPaper – FAILED as only one was written also FAILED was the Art project.
Why was this a failure? Well life and work gets in the way of hobbies. Plus I did write a blog post for Openlodge.com, about 20 church news letters. A quick basic website.
But still a failed project year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

My Sister in Law had a child called Isobel.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
2016 has been a bad year for the departing of Celebrities and Brothers and their family.

5. What countries did you visit?
We have not traveled by plane or boat this year, so we have been nowhere but for this green wet land we call home. Well we did some Haven holiday and bought a caravan!!!

6. What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked in 2016?
Sleep, the idea of going to bed and not having to get up during the night for a crying Callum would be the most precious thing I could get in 2017

7. What dates from 2016 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
8th November – was installed into the chair of Adoniram

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting through the year with a small amount of sleep.
Writing the Paper on the Apron

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not being able to complete 8 papers this year, as life got in the way.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I changed my religion after short time in hospital, but as the Docs are scared of most things it could have been Big C bad. But it was not 🙂

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Carrie the Caravan – so we can have more trips away.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

Callum for remaining so happy despite all the coughs colds and shit the world has thrown at him.
Helen for being an awesome Mother and Wife.
Henry for seeming to be settling in at School.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Depressed – US for moaning about their presidential candidates and no its not right we lost. Also Brexit, was disappointed by the result but have moved on. But others can’t and the country got silly.
Look we lost get over it and help make the situation better.

Appalled – The West’s we stand for freedom and peace. But erm Aleppo who?what? Where now?

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills and erm more Bills

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
1. Joining as an Associate of the Lodge of Living Stones
2. Seeing my brother get married


16. What song will always remind you of 2016?

a) happier or sadder? Happier
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner but still 13stone .. Tis odd
c) richer or poorer? Poorer with more things attacking my wage

Proof we not need as there are Nazi symbols and a ruined buildings in the jungle. That’s all the proof we need!!!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No one – there are more idiots in the world but hate leads to the dark side.

26. What was the best book you read?
The Alchemist’s Secret Book by Scott Mariani and I am on the third book and they have got samey…
I need to rebuild a kindle but need a machine and so we go round the pc roundabout once more.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Nothing ground-breaking – There’s

Chain-smokers
But seemed to have got in to the PodCasts of Monster Cat… (such a bad Kitty!!!)

28. What did you want and get?

Wanted sleep got … tried, but life has been good.

More sleep 🙂

30. What was your favourite film of this year?

Not really been the Cinema much this year, but Rogue One was well worth it.
It was Star wars does titanic. With a bit of red dwarf thrown in and does question the term Boffin!!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Erm nope nothing I turned 39 so not much to shout about.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more
Sleep – yes it is a theme here but it’s true, I feel I have been on the tenterhooks all year.

Can’t be arsed to Shave. Look..

34. What kept you sane?
The voices in my head, and chanting ritual that I was trying to learn.

Brexit – as it was referendum year for remaining in the EU and it would appear the country does not agree with me. But oh well.

37. Who did you miss?
Westminster Lodge 7532 as I have now left my post as Tyler and in accordance to the agreement with my wife resigned from the Lodge as it is not fair on all parties.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Sadly no one had been able to replace Callum from the top spot.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2016.
You can survive on little sleep, but don’t overlook how this will affect your productivity!!

As 2015 draws to close it is time to review the year as it is, as it was. Reflecting on life that has been led by me in my Pete-centric universe.

  1. What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?

Well that is easy I wrote a Masonic paper with other people and compared  notes and learnt lots.

Completed 100days of being creative.

 

  1. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

  Did you have any Challenges in 2015 and were you successful, and will you have more Challenges for 2016?

“Challenge 2015”.  Was 3 things,  100days – PASSED, write an Esoteric Paper – PASSED x 4 and final the shared story, this was a failure due to the fact that life got on top of me for a bit.  For full review see the Lessons Learned Post.

The wife, that’s pretty close to me I think!

We had a Second Son called Callum, who is a happy little guy.

W.Bro Reg’s wife passed away, there have been others but I do not remember, but as we get into this time of the year more great friends may pass to the GL above!

 

  1. What countries did you visit?

No countries this year or hols, we when to North Wales but as that is a principality of Britain it not really count as separate country.

 

  1. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?

Money, but you can always say that.  Hmm perhaps more time ? Not really sure as this has been a good year

 

  1. What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

26th May – Birth of Callum Edward Maguire

 

  1. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Birth of Callum?? Not that I really did much it was all Helen and the Medical staff – OK supportive role go me 🙂

Writing 4 Masonic Papers for Dr Lomas’ Portal – Why because  I disliked doing those sort of things when at School and Uni.

 

  1. What was your biggest failure?

Not being as patient with Henry as I could have been.

 

  1. Did you suffer illness or injury?

We were in a Car accident in March and according to the Docs I had muscle issues that required massage. Does it count ?

 

  1. What was the best thing you bought?

Nothing Springs to mind.  Masonic book

Ooo –  correction the new Sofas have arrived.

 

  1. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

Henry for being a caring brother.

Helen for being an awesome Mother and Wife despite what she has had thrown at her.

 

  1. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Depressed    Facebook and there constant moaning about US Presidential candidates and there all out to get you..

Appalled -ISIS for their cowardly, idiotic behaviour.  Taking a religion and going, we will ignore those bits and just go on about 1 part.

House funds  due to Maternity Pay

 

  1. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
  1. With some worries the Birth of Callum
  2. Seeing a Third Degree at the Lodge of Living Stones.
  3. The New Star Wars Movie

  2. a) happier or sadder?  – Happier
  3. b) thinner or fatter?  – Fatter, as I believe I am obese according to my height and weight.

More correspondence with friends and family. Just stayed in touch more. Same as last year  really as I did not do a good job. May create a sub challenge to email/write to family / friends

Getting angry at Henry for playing up when he is just trying to find his place in the new world of being a brother and no longer an only child.

 

  1. How will you be spending Christmas?

Christmas this year is at the sister’ place so should be fun nice !

May  – as Callum arrived

My new son Callum he is a lovable little fellow.

I have enjoyed:

But most enjoy able is the “Curse of  Oak island” a History programme that sees two brothers searching for Treasurer.  But whose is it ?

No one – I think this should be another question that should be replaced.

 

  1. What was the best book you read?

Well  I have not read this much this year,  Scared History of the World by Jonathan Black, I have partially read a lot of masonic books for the papers I have been writing, but no fiction books this time.

 

  1. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Last year I had no really new music,  this year  I found via a random youtube.com click.  Infected Mushroom.  They are awesome and I have since found an album called “Friends of Mushroom” epic and also Astrix just as good.

So I have had a great music year, that and getting to see Faithless live again and managing to  dance/jump around like an idiot again was the  best.

 

  1. What did you want and get?

A healthy second Son.

 

  1. What did you want and not get?

More sleep 🙂

 

  1. What was your favourite film of this year?

At the time of writing this it is – Spectre  the new bond as it was the best since Casino Royale. But I have not seen :

Star Wars : Force Awakens. – have seen it WOW oh WOW

 

  1. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Last years was not memorable,  this year’s; well,  I did a  Pekiti-Tirsia Kali seminar back at the old Horin Dojo. It was run by Pekiti Tirsia International member, currently headed by Tuhon Guro McGrath (President and Chief Instructor). It was brilliant 🙂

 

  1. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more

Not having to go to the hospital  every 3-4 weeks to check on the progress. Or H having to visit some medical centre every week since the Big C has been born.

 

  1. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?

Last year was Hats  this year it has been trainers. For the first time ever I bought a pair of VANS Pumps. In fact I have bought 3 sets of trainers this year and a pair of shoes. So I have an untouched pair in the garage.

 

  1. What kept you sane?

The voices in my head, and chanting ritual that I was trying to learn.

 

  1. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Adrianne Palicki – realised when I saw the trailer for Agents of Shield

 

 

  1. What political issue stirred you the most?

Election – as it was Election year and the Pollsters got is seriously wrong.

 

  1. Who did you miss?

No one that springs to mind.

 

  1. Who was the best new person you met?

Easy – the new Son, Callum Edward Maguire.  What a star, he is tough little guy with a big smile.

 

  1. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015.

Family is strong, fecking irritating.  But that is ok.
